Departure: free parking at NMBS station Harchies - rue de Stambruges 63 - 7321 Bernissart

We set off along a country lane by the railway track to the canal. We cross the canal twice to finally reach the marshes of Hensies. This beautiful nature reserve has two ponds with observation posts, ideal for bird watching and photography.

We then continue our walk to Le Préau. Here is the municipal campsite. Across the road, we can take a sanitary break at the clubhouse of the local fishing club, provided there are volunteers present.

For enthusiasts: in the nearby village of Pommeroeul, a special procession takes place each year on August 14th at dusk. About ten beautifully flower-adorned and brightly lit floats parade through the village. Upon the return of the Virgin Mary statue to the church, children and the sick are blessed.
