Icon description route Description

The Durme arises near Lokeren from the confluence of Zuidlede and Moervaart. From there, the river flows towards Tielrode, where it flows into the Scheldt. We follow its banks past some beautiful natural areas with waving reed beds and freshwater salt marshes, which are home to a wealth of rare fauna and flora.

The Stork cycling route is offered to you by Routen, an initiative of Tourism East Flanders.

Saturday, September 16, 2023 by Etienne GodderieAttention already on 14/09/23 this very nice route, but when I arrived at the Mirabrug I followed the junctions to find out that the bike path was interrupted and you could not continue towards tielrode. Looks like these works have been going on for a while and no adjustment is foreseen.

Monday, May 23, 2022 by I.P.Nice route but be sure to bring something to drink in hot weather, you only come across 2 spots where you can have a drink. I had adjusted the route to leave close to the ferry. We had passed the first cafe because it seemed a bit too early to stop already, but then we only came across something almost at the end of the route.

Wednesday, November 4, 2020 by Brigitta LipsVery nice bike route. Beautiful natural areas. Highly recommended in autumn. Beautiful autumn colors and in sunny weather a beautiful reflection on the water.

Thursday, July 30, 2020 by Jan WaegemansReally a beautiful cycling route with beautiful natural areas. The road surface beyond KP29 towards KP32 is really bad though, lots of potholes in the asphalt.

Sunday, July 26, 2020 by Wim LeyseeleVery nice route, peace and nature. Very little car traffic. Ferry does close on Sunday afternoon between 12 and 13h. But you can then return very briefly and pick up again via the bridge.

Sunday, July 19, 2020 by M.C.I think this is a beautiful bike route. Very green; many stretches along the Durme, but also not always. Almost everywhere car-free or else very car-free. A top route that I will definitely do again.

Saturday, May 9, 2020 by Yorne VerhaegheCool, beautiful route! Only between node 76 and 77 you need a spring, which is just for commuting during these corona times! Otherwise very pleasant cycling.
