Icon description route Description

You'll start the route at Val-Dieu Abbey, a monastery of Cistercian monks in Aubel in the Pays de Herve, founded around 1215. After a stretch full of greenery, you will head for Battice and its fort built between 1934 and 1937, which can also be visited. You will then reach the village of Thimister, where the first Belgian soldier of the First World War fell, and Clermont-sur-Berwinne, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Wallonia". After much effort, you'll make your way back up to the Abbey, where comfort awaits you in the form of a beer brewed on the premises.

Friday, August 21, 2026 by Kenny SegersA beautiful route, with just one small section that wasn't quite as nice. You'll also pass a observation tower that's worth climbing (free).
