Description
Orbecca is the original name of the village of Oorbeek, located right next to the E40 highway. It was first mentioned as early as 1095. The village derives its beauty from the simplicity of a few historic buildings. St. Lambert’s Church is one of the oldest Romanesque churches in the country. The tower dates from around the year 1200, and stones from Gallo-Roman villas were even used in the construction of the nave. You’ll also walk past the Chapel of Our Lady of Consolation, St. George’s Church, and Oorbeek Castle. Stop by the beautiful Begijnhoeve for some delicious farm-fresh ice cream.
Before you set out: This is a walk on a virtual hiking network. The junctions are not marked on the ground. Follow the hexagonal red-and-white signs bearing the name of the walk.
