This very varied walk starts at the parking lot of the Abbey of Herkenrode. Through the Bammerik Forest, you head towards Kuringen to then walk about two kilometers along the Albert Canal towards Stokrooie.

Along the canal, you can find a memorial monument that the non-profit organization Crusaders For Justice had made in 2018 for all missing and murdered children. Every year, they commemorate all these children with a commemorative ride and place a flower arrangement on the memorial stone so that these children are never forgotten.

Once past Stokrooie, you encounter a beautiful piece of nature. You pass along the Zonderikbeek, a bird hide, the Demer, the Tuiltdemer with an artificial fish ladder, the Tuiltermolen and the abbey mill, where milling is still done. And, of course, not to forget the Abbey of Herkenrode.
