Park for free at the parking in Ter Laken

You start along the beautiful double lime tree avenue and explore the castle estate of Hof Ter Laken, which was in noble hands until 2018. It is now managed by the Kempens Landschap Foundation together with the municipality of Heist-op-den-Berg.

You pass the Samenhof, the forest ranger's house, the ice cellar, the moats, the castle itself (later heritage accommodation for groups) and the coach house (later a brasserie and event hall).

Via a somewhat adventurous suspension bridge, you cross the Grote Nete to 't Bergske in the territory of Hulshout: a former 17th-century tenant farm of the castle where the Flemish film classic Pallieter was filmed.

You visit 't Torreke or Het Toreke, the old boundary marker between Hulshout and Booischot, along with the Place of Comfort. You return via the Herenbossen with newly laid clogs with reeblocks, in which future trees are cultivated, back to the winding Grote Nete.
