Starting point: Sports hall parking – Driebeek 22, Gentbrugge

A short but varied walk through a beautiful piece of nature just outside Ghent.

We start in the Rattendale Park and then walk through the Gentbrugse Meersen. Along the way, we pass a peace monument that can be climbed and offers a beautiful view over the open marsh landscape.

Then we pass the birth monument and walk a bit along the Rietgracht. Finally, we go through the beautifully landscaped allotments, surrounded by neatly trimmed hedges, where water is still drawn with traditional hand pumps.

Wednesday, April 22, 2026 by R.P.A very nice walking route with beautiful scenery and pleasant trails. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. It’s just a shame that the noise from the nearby E40 highway can be a bit distracting at times, which detracts slightly from the experience.
