Starting point: Soccer field Zegelsem – Rovorst 48, Brakel

This varied walk takes you through the rolling landscape of Brakel, along quiet nature reserves, wooded paths, and special places full of character and silence.

From Zegelsem, we walk towards the Burreken nature reserve, a beautiful piece of nature with sloping forests and winding paths. Then we proceed to the Ter Rijst forest, with a stop on the way at the Bosgat viewpoint, where you will be treated to a stunning panorama of the region.

After the forest, we cross the busy N48 (be extra careful here). A short break at the Mariagrot, next to the De Lijn depot, is certainly worthwhile. Behind the grotto, you will discover a surprisingly beautiful Stations of the Cross with well-maintained statues.

At junction 6, there is a possibility for a sanitary stop. Then the journey continues through the Brakelbos, back to the starting point.

Sunday, January 11, 2026 by Gerda De BruyckerA wonderful walk with lots of beautiful nature. Yesterday, January 10, 2026, I did this with 20 fellow walkers. We were also able to enjoy a winter snow landscape. I set the starting point at D'Hoppe in Flobecq and a stopover in Boschgat. This way, afterwards there was also an opportunity to chat over a drink and a snack.
