Description
A refreshing walk through the woods along the avenues and winding paths of the Heverleebos. You’ll start at the Arboretum, a 9-hectare collection of trees planted in 1930, consisting mainly of exotic species. It features more than 300 different species of trees and shrubs. You’ll arrive at the intersection of Damendreef and Harcourtdreef—popularly known as “Vijf eiken” (Five Oaks)—where native oaks dominate. Stroll along Prosperdreef; this avenue offers a particularly beautiful view in the fall, when the leaves of the American oak turn bright red.

Sunday, December 29, 2024 by P.P.Beautiful walk, even in winter, well walkable even after all the rain. More hollow roads than expected, actually variable and not too crowded but we also left early. We extended the hike around the ponds of Oud-Heverlee. Highly recommended.
