Description
A short but lovely introduction to the valley and slopes of Hazendal, a section of the Sonian Forest in Hoeilaart. You’ll walk past the ponds of the Groenendaal Priory, which are fed by the IJse River—a small stream that rises deeper in the forest and flows into the Dijle River at Neerijse. Be sure to take a look at the Groenendaal train station building as you set off. It was built in 1895 and is a fine example of late 19th-century station architecture.
Before you set out: This is a walk on a virtual walking network. The junctions are not marked on the ground. Follow the wooden posts with red bands.
