Icon description route Description

On the Heirbaan Walk, you’ll stroll along roads that were built by the Romans. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the sweeping views of the Velpe Valley. You’ll walk through the Hulsbos and past the magnificent Château de l’Escaille Attenrode. A procession still passes by the Heinskensberg Chapel every year. That rust-brown little house surrounded by a walnut tree? That’s not a chapel but a fruit-themed work of art by Hagelander artist Wilfried De Cock. It symbolizes fruit growers as family people, deeply connected to nature, fruit growing, and the landscape.

Before you set out: This is a walk on a virtual hiking network. The junctions are not marked on the ground. Follow the hexagonal red-and-white signs bearing the name of the walk.

Sunday, May 25, 2025 by Pieter Lievensvery nice views, just long enough and very safe along quiet roads/paths. not suitable for wheelchair users or strollers , important to know in advance at the start. For average hiker with bit of fitness doable.

Saturday, September 5, 2020 by Guy Van dammeDespite the fact that there are many asphalt and concrete roads, we give this hike 4 stars because it was so quiet and peaceful. It is hilly. You can enjoy the quiet and wide views. Also historically interesting. You discover it while hiking. Take your time for this. A nice walk and highly recommended.
