Description
You can explore the village of Houtem along car-free footpaths and narrow church lanes. They take you past beautiful spots and centuries-old buildings, such as the Monnikshof and the Steenblockhoeve, dating from 1550. The Houtembos forms a green buffer between the village and the E19 highway. The Kankerbos was planted here in 2004. You’ll also pass through the De Bomputten nature reserve, where the bomb craters from that time now form beautiful pools.

I personally would do the hike in the opposite direction and not that of the signposts. This is because now the biggest stretches of asphalt are at the end.
