Description
The white village used to be called Mazenzele because it turned white in the spring due to the blooming cherry orchards. Here and there, you can still find traces of the old orchards. Explore the beautiful surroundings and walk via the Koutermolen to the Perreveld, ending at the imposing convent of the Sisters of St. Vincent de Paul. The name of this walk refers to the patron saints of the Mazenzele parish church—with its remarkable 13th-century tower—and the Opwijk parish church.

Saturday, June 28, 2025 by Bastien Van WemmelThe walk was described, signposted and officially opened in 1999 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of "Vakantiegenoegens Opwijk", now "Pasar Opwijk". Because of the success of this hike, the Pasar department drew up (in2004) two more hikes in Opwijk: Hestergempad and Droespad, on the occasion of their 15 years of existence.

Sunday, May 15, 2022 by A.T.Fine Sunday morning hike in a quiet rural setting. Even distribution of paved/unpaved route. Clear signage. Didn't have a "wow" feeling but enjoyed every mile, partly due to the wonderful spring sunshine.
