Description
No, you won’t spot a wolf here. This beautiful nature reserve, covering about 90 hectares, used to be a sandstone quarry. The limestone in the subsoil now mainly attracts snails—no fewer than 37 species of land snails live here—as well as 260 species of butterflies. You’ll walk along boardwalks and through a mix of grasslands and forests. At the highest point along your path, you’ll reach a rust-brown observation deck where you’ll be suspended four meters above solid ground, taking in all this stunning nature from above.
Before you set out: Along the way, you’ll walk on boardwalks with elevation changes and narrow paths. This makes the route less suitable for strollers.
You can also shorten the walk to 4.6 km. This shorter route is also signposted.
This hike is offered by the municipality of Dilbeek and Tourism Flemish Brabant.
