Start and end your walk with a drink on the terrace at the Gempemolen. Centuries old, it’s now a charming brasserie. Your hike takes you through the Troostemberg Forest in the Winge Valley, all the way to the top of the 82.5-meter-high Bensberg. The Troostemberg Forest is a remnant of the ancient forest that once covered the entire Hageland region. It’s a true hiking forest with beech, sweet chestnut, and birch trees. The de Troostemberg family lives in Kleerbeek Castle on the edge of the forest.
