Description
You’ll immediately see why the picturesque village of Wakkerzeel was once nominated for the title of “Most Beautiful Village in Flanders.” This walk takes you to hidden spots and historic buildings, such as the rectory from 1758, commissioned by Abbot Ferdinandus De Loyers of Park Abbey. Today, the Antitankgracht nature reserve—built to stop German tanks—is teeming with aquatic life.

Tuesday, December 23, 2025 by Astrid DorissenDid the walk on a cold winter day ... little impressed with the " art village " Wakkerzeel. A little more explanation of the buildings would have been welcome.

Sunday, October 26, 2025 by Kurt Van LooyNice walk with enough variety and in the center a nice café with very friendly service. Only downside is perhaps a little too little unpaved, but that's a detail. Definitely recommended!

Wednesday, February 17, 2021 by Dirk MeeusBeautiful hike worth repeating. Starting point is accessible via the road between Werchter and Haacht. There are still works via the other approach roads.

Monday, January 6, 2020 by Herman Van den ReeckSeemed to be a nice hike. Unfortunately the center of Wakkerzele was open and after taking a detour to get to the church there was no parking at all. I took the car to Werchter.
