Icon description route Description

Droes in Opwijk means as much as 'devil'. Droeshout' in turn stands for swampy forest. The walk leads you through the valley of the Puttenbeek, a tributary of the Great Mill Creek and one of the most natural and pure brooks in the region. It is the only place in Opwijk where a natural reed bed 'De Putten' of this surface occurs. According to various sources, the first settlements (stilt houses) would have originated in this area. This walk is offered by Tourism Flemish Brabant.

Monday, May 23, 2022 by A.T.Fine walk in a beautiful setting. The paved parts of the route are, especially on a Sunday, relatively traffic-free but also the terrain of cycling tourists ... Good signage. Highly recommended !

Friday, September 18, 2020 by G.D.Did the hike today and after node 714, again lost our way. Have gone along the busy lane and came to the church of Droeshout. As a result, we did a few kilometers too many. Near the church, then found the signposts again and the hike took us through beautiful nature. Enjoyed it.

Sunday, February 24, 2019 by Poppeia en co Poppeia en coThe Droes Walk in Opwijk has a very nice starting and finishing point, Hof Ten Hemelrijk. The walk itself is very well signposted, partly due to the hiking nodes. Where the nodes could not be found due to works, you can fortunately still rely on the signs with the name of the hike itself. The trail takes you quickly outside the center, 2/3 via asphalted, quiet roads, 1/3 via very quiet field or footpaths. In spring this will be particularly beautiful, as there are a lot of fruit trees on the route. One more tip: could the story of the "glanders" be indicated somewhere? We haven't spotted a devil anywhere....
