You’ll cycle past the region’s most beautiful historic buildings, such as Leuven City Hall and St. Peter’s Church on the Grote Markt, the fabulous Horst Castle, and Vlierbeek Abbey. In Wezemaal, you’ll immerse yourself in wine culture before taking a break at the Kessel-Lo Provincial Estate and letting the kids run wild in the adventure playgrounds. Expect a few steep hills in this land of the Hageland hills.

Please note: Due to roadwork, the route is interrupted from Horst Castle until January 2026. Return via junctions 98 and 99 and continue following the detour to junction 43.

Monday, May 10, 2021 by J.D.Ridden this route yesterday. Very nice route, but there is 1 mistake: at junction 12 you should first follow 7 which then connects to 10, so 12-7-10 and then continue as indicated in the route.

Sunday, April 19, 2020 by K.V.I've already done this bike route twice in two weeks, because we love it so much! Preferably with a gravel bike or bike with slightly thicker tires though (not a road bike), because there are a lot of unpaved sections, potholes in the road, thick stones, and forest roads (and also three serious inclines, but that could just be down to my fitness level). I must honestly admit that the state of the roads is really scary at times, but nice and adventurous! In the direction of Holsbeek, there is a nice little road along the highway where you can get some serious speed on your bike. Along the way you will also encounter many sheep, cows and horses!

I would really recommend this route!

Monday, August 14, 2017 by K.V.Very nice bike ride with some climbs, but as a reward wonderful panoramas of Holsbeek and surroundings. 2 points of improvement are the signposting of the route, should be more slices and in clear places. Too bad about the road along the motorway before Wezemaal coming from Horst, one could also ride under the motorway and continue towards Wezemaal along dr slope, much nicer and calmer.
