At your starting point, first pop into the August De Boeckhuis, the former home of the village’s head teacher. That way, you’ll immediately learn more about the Merchtem-born composer after whom this route is named. You’ll cycle along the old railroad right-of-way of the Leirekensroute toward Steenhuffel, winding your way across and alongside the Molenbeek.
