The NodeMapp Bike app received a substantial update

Over the past few months, we’ve been working behind the scenes on a new version of our app. Don’t worry—everything you already loved is still here. But we’ve introduced plenty of big and small improvements to give you even better cycling adventures. You can download or update the app for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Dark mode: discover cycling routes in your style

Whether you’re quickly plotting a route in the evening or just want to give your eyes a break, our dark mode keeps the app comfortable and energy-efficient.

By default the app follows your device’s theme setting automatically. Want to choose for yourself when it’s light or dark? Tap “More” at the bottom of the app to adjust your preferences.

Navigation greatly improved

We’ve completely overhauled our navigation mode.

Landscape mode

Landscape mode is now also available on iOS. You can switch orientation (portrait or landscape) via a button at the top of the map. We’ve optimized landscape mode to make navigation more comfortable when you hold your device sideways.

Track display

During navigation, we display your completed track in magenta. If you’d rather not use this feature, you can disable it in the navigation settings.

Improved distance measurement

The distance you’ve traveled and the distance remaining… measurements are now more accurate.

Smartwatch notifications

Using a smartwatch of any brand? In navigation settings, you can enable notifications on your watch. All turn-by-turn directions will then appear as notifications on your smartwatch.

Share your best photos

In the route planner and on other maps in the app, you’ll find this photo icon:

Tap the photo icon to capture landscapes, buildings, heritage sites, and more while you’re on the go. You can share these photos with us so we can showcase them on the map for other users. This helps other cyclists discover the most beautiful routes.

Extra treat: until September 30, 2025, you could win a €50 Coolblue gift voucher by sending us your best cycling snapshots. If one of your photos ranks among the top 10 when the contest ends, the voucher is yours.

Favorite routes

Under “Discover”, you’ll always find a curated selection of suggested routes. These come from our tourism partners and our Pathfinders—selected app users who share their favorite rides. You can now add these routes to your favorites so you can easily find them later under “My Routes”.

Many small improvements

We’ve also refined a number of details:

• The route planner has been subtly enhanced. Plotting a route is now even smoother.
• Choose your preferred language in the app (Dutch, French, German, or English).
• In navigation settings, you can adjust the voice guidance volume.
• You can “like” your favorite routes to encourage creators to keep publishing great rides.
• Posting a review for a route has been made more intuitive.
• The filter for finding your favorite cycling route has been expanded.
