This hilly bicycle route explores the beautiful green region in the 'Land van de Witte'. You cycle past the Norbertine Abbey in Averbode, where you can enjoy an ice cream in the shadow of this grand building in the well-known 'Likdreef'. You will also discover the pilgrimage site of Scherpenheuvel with its impressive basilica via Zichem and enjoy a local Gildenbier or Hagelands wine in the cozy historic city center of Diest.

Tuesday, September 19, 2017 by A.C.A recommended pleasant route with a nice view of what the Hageland has to offer. Beautiful rolling landscapes, the historic Maagdentoren in Zichem, Abbey of Averbode etc...
Ridden according to the GPS route. This went well, only there was some confusion at the Abbey of Averbode. Here just take the bike path right along it and further on in the avenue of trees with the famous ice cream carts you are nicely back on track.
In Scherpenheuvel a little side trip to the Basilica with its fringe entertainment might be worthwhile for a short stop.
As read in previous review there are unpaved sections of trail included. For a regular city bike this is no problem, for a racing bike slightly less appropriate.

Thursday, May 12, 2016 by M.C.Beautiful route with many places of interest !
Only 1 minus point: according to your site, the distance between junction 18 and 25 is only 700 m, but this is NOT correct and is rather 4 km and the distance between junction 25 and 58 is 700 m. Presumably you have reversed this. Because of this we had to search a while to see if we were right. That was a pity.
